Parents are making their move

This just in:

Utah’s public school enrollment declines for the third consecutive year.

Now, if you’re a government bureaucrat, you’ll probably try to spin it to blame it on lower birth rates, or some other “demographic” anomaly, but if you’re a parent who’s been paying attention these last few years, you know exactly what’s going on.

And it looks a lot like hope.

Utah isn’t an outlier here either—this same thing is happening all across the country. Families are quietly walking away from a system that’s been failing their kids for years, and the data says that they’re not looking back.

After 2020, millions of parents finally saw behind the curtain. They saw what their children were being taught—and what they weren’t—and a ton of them really didn’t like it.

They saw the chaos, the politics, the hours of busywork, and the total lack of meaningful connection. When they realized that the system wasn’t just broken but designed to keep their kids dependent and disengaged, many decided they’d had enough.

Some parents turned to charter schools, some joined co-ops or microschools, and a whole lot of them just decided to start teaching their kids at home.

And guess what? It’s working.

Families are spending more time together, kids are learning at their own pace, and parents are rediscovering what’s been true all along—that no one is as qualified as they are to educate their kids. Education, it turns out, doesn’t require special degrees, fluorescent lights, government oversight, and a cafeteria full of chicken nuggets.

It requires time, attention, and freedom.

I know not every family can just drop everything and homeschool tomorrow. And that’s okay. The good news is that there are more ways to make it work than ever before with hybrid setups, shared teaching, and local support groups that help fill the gaps. Some families are even using Education Savings Accounts (ESAs) or other school-choice programs to cover materials and curriculum costs.

The point is, families are back in the driver’s seat, and they’re proving that in many cases, it’s possible to do it on a single income, or even while both parents work.

What a time to be alive!!

And just in time, I’m stoked to announce our new Tuttle Twins Homeschool Hub!

Whether you’re already homeschooling or just starting to explore your options, the Hub brings together everything families need to get started: step-by-step guides for beginners, resources organized by age and subject, help using ESAs, and tips for building a sustainable rhythm at home.

We’ve even built a Tuttle Twins Academy and staffed it with experts who teach teens the things they’ll never learn in school!

Even if homeschooling isn’t possible for you right now, the Homeschool Hub can help you reclaim more of your child’s education through everyday learning.

Don’t forget that the dinner table can be the best classroom in the world! Road trips, passion projects, shared hobbies, reading together—these are all ways families are supplementing what their kids learn at school with the important lessons that the education system doesn’t cover.

The best part of all of this is that the data continues to show that this isn’t just a trend like the petty tyrants and bureaucrats had hoped it would be.

It’s a movement. And it’s not going to stop.

The old system is shrinking, and families are rising to fill the gap. Parents are remembering that they’re the primary educators—that they don’t need permission to teach their kids—and that real education begins at home.

So if Utah’s numbers are any sign, and they are, I’d say we’re headed in the right direction.

Keep it up guys. We’re gonna win!
