Imagine a system designed from the ground up to view your children not as yours to raise, but as hostages to a greater cause.
Except you don’t have to imagine it because that’s public education.
It isn’t hyperbole; Horace Mann, the 19th-century architect of America's public education system actually said this:
“We who are engaged in the sacred cause of education are entitled to look upon all parents as having given hostages to our cause.”
Yeah. Whoa.
As Secretary of the Massachusetts Board of Education, Mann championed "common schools" modeled after the Prussian system, where centralized state control aimed to mold uniform citizens loyal to the government.
He envisioned education as a tool for social engineering—a way of ensuring kids absorbed the values deemed essential by the state. Of course it came at the expense of parental influence and individual liberty, but that was the whole point!
Fast forward to today, and it’s clear the ways Mann’s mission is still front-and-center in public education.
Randi Weingarten, the president of the American Federation of Teachers (one of the largest teachers' unions in the country) spoke last week at the World Economic Forum.
She shared her vision of partnering with global elites to develop curriculum and an "integrated network" where educators, governments, and corporations "all work together" to indoctrinate …er… “educate” the rising generation.
She’s spoken in the past about her collaborative work with the WEF to create pathways to "good jobs" and “living wages”, but anyone paying attention can see the deeper implications: a push toward standardized, top-down learning that prioritizes collective agendas over individual thriving.
Somebody needs to tell Randi and the WEF that education shouldn't be a coercive monopoly enforced by the state or influenced by international forums. Just like in an economy, any true progress comes from free markets and voluntary choices, not central planning.
When families are empowered to direct their children's learning free from bureaucratic overreach, they foster innovation, character, and self-reliance.
When outsiders claim authority over what kids learn, there are a million things that go wrong, but the worst is that it undermines the family as the bedrock of society.
John Taylor Gatto captured it perfectly when he said that, “Government schooling is the most radical adventure in history. It kills the family by monopolizing the best times of childhood and by teaching disrespect for home and parents.”
This is by design.
Globalists and petty tyrants know that children raised in strong families with close ties to their parents are very difficult to brainwash. Horace Mann knew it, and Randi Weingarten knows it. In fact, every decision made in the global education bureaucracy stems from that understanding.

Today, ideological captors are still preying on the ignorance of a mostly compulsory-educated population of adults. They view parents as obstacles.
Yeah, sorry. Count me and my kids out.
School choice restores sovereignty to families by allowing them to opt out of the machine and choose what’s best for their own kids. Be it homeschooling, charters, or supplements that align with their principles, parents have (and must exercise!) a fundamental right to choose.
Today marks the start of National School Choice Week—a yearly reminder that you don't have to accept the status quo.
Whether you're homeschooling or just supplementing around the dinner table in the evenings, there are practical tools to make what you’re doing work.
Because even small steps are still steps in the right direction.

For too long, the Horace Manns of the world have succeeded in sidelining parents. The results have been disastrous for generations of kids, and by extension, for society in general. But parents are waking up to the reality of what’s been happening.
And they’re taking action.
If you’ve had enough, and are ready to reclaim your role as the person who is ultimately responsible for how your children learn about the world and their place in it, then you’re in good company.
Your family is the foundation of everything good and right and true. We want to help you strengthen it.
I’m rooting for you!
